The Journey
We set off from the colourful pearling town of Broome. On the way to the mighty Fitzroy River we take in fascinating landmarks like the Willare Roadhouse, the Prison Boab Tree, Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek.
We settle for our first taste of camp cooking and a night under the stunning Kimberley night sky in Windjana Gorge.
Next day we’re off to explore the famous Gibb River Road, King Leopold Range and Bell Gorge. For the next two nights we camp beside the Lower Manning River.
We then head off to explore the Manning Gorge. You’ll see waterfalls and have a refreshing rock pool swim if you feel like it. We visit some extraordinary Aboriginal rock art. You’ll find yourself standing in front of art that is thousands of years old. You are right there where it was painted so long ago. It is a moving experience to see this up close.
Our tour then takes us along the Gibb River Road to Durack River. We chat with some local Indigenous people and see more remarkable rock art. You’ll see the Cockburn Ranges and the Pentecost River. That night they’ll make us welcome at the cattle station campsite in Home Valley Station.
The stunning Emma Gorge is up next on our list of adventures. You’ll be tempted to have another swim. We visit the impressive El Questro and set up camp for two nights. You might enjoy live music in their delightful outdoor bar. If you’re in the mood for adventure, you can take up the option of a cruise on the Chamberlain Gorge or go horse riding. There is also the option of a scenic flight to the magnificent Mitchell Falls. For people who like to keep their feet on the ground there are some wonderful walks in El Questro Gorge. You’ll see beautiful Kimberley wildflowers and flowering trees.

Ready to relax even more? Soon we are off for a little soak in the Zebedee Hot Springs. We explore the lush tropical town of Kununurra and check out some galleries. This is a great chance to stock up on any town supplies you might fancy.
If you are still hungry for more adventure, you can join a tour to Lake Argyle or take a river cruise along the Ord River for some crocodile and bird spotting. There are also options for fishing, scenic flights and horse riding.
Next we are off to Ivanhoe Crossing and then on to the fascinating Warmun Arts Centre where we chat to some artists and learn some more about the local culture and see some contemporary art. If you are ready for a thrill, there is the option of a helicopter ride over the extraordinary Bungle Bungles. We’ll be camping at Bungle Bungle Station Campsite for the next two days.
We are now at the Purnululu National Park. We walk though the Bungle Bungles, visit Picanniny Creek, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm. At this stage of the tour we are travelling on the Great Northern Highway. We visit the China Wall, Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing.
On our final night we stay at an exclusive campsite beside a billabong on a working cattle station. Our final adventure is a complimentary cruise of Geikie Gorge Cruise on the Fitzroy River before we return to Broome after our grand adventure.
