The Journey
We set off from the colourful pearling town of Broome. On the way to the mighty Fitzroy River we take in fascinating landmarks like the Willare Roadhouse, the Prison Boab Tree, Bandilngan (Windjana Gorge) and Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek).
We settle for our first taste of camp cooking and a night under the stunning Kimberley night sky in Bandilngan (Windjana Gorge) after exploring Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek)
Next day we’re off to explore the famous Gibb River Road, Wunaamin Miliwundi Range (King Leopold Range) and Dalmanyi (Bell Gorge). For the next two nights we camp beside the Lower Manning River on Mt Barnett Station.
We then head off to explore the Manning Gorge. You’ll see waterfalls and have a refreshing rock pool swim if you feel like it. We view Aboriginal rock art, you will find yourself standing in front of art that is thousands of years old. You are right there where it was painted so long ago. It is a moving experience to see this up close.
Our tour then takes us along the Gibb River Road to Durack River. You’ll see the Cockburn Ranges and cross the Pentecost River as we enter El Questro Station.
The stunning Emma Gorge is up next on our list of adventures. Albeit the water is very refreshing, you’ll be tempted to have another swim beneath the high walls and trickling waterfall of this oasis. We visit the impressive El Questro and set up camp for our three night stay. You might enjoy live music in their delightful outdoor bar. If you’re in the mood for adventure, you can take up the option of a cruise on the Chamberlain Gorge or go horse riding.
Ready to relax even more? Soak your traveller bodyin the Zebedee Hot Springs, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. We discover Amalia Gorge and enjoy sunset at Pigeon Hole lookout. You’ll see beautiful Kimberley wildflowers and flowering trees.
On departing El Questro Station there is the option of a scenic flight to the magnificent Mitchell Falls. For people who like to keep their feet on the ground we will explore Parry's Lagoon and the port town of Wyndham as we travel to our next campsite in the beautiful east Kimberley town of Kununurra. Built as a consequence of the damming of the Ord River, Kununurra offers local art galleries, rare pink Argyle diamonds and a chance to stock up on any town supplies or souvenirs you might fancy.
If you are still hungry for more adventure, you can join a tour to Lake Argyle or take a river cruise along the Ord River for some crocodile and bird spotting. There are also options for fishing or scenic flights.
Next we are on our way to the Bungle Bungles, Purnululu National Park. If you are ready for a thrill, there is the option of a helicopter ride over the extraordinary beehive domes. We visit and explore Picanniny Creek, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm.
As we continue our journey through the Kimberley, we are travelling on the Great Northern Highway. We visit the China Wall, Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing.
On our final night we stay at our exclusive campsite beside a billabong on a working cattle station. Our final adventure is exploring Danggu Geikie Gorge, and see the devastation of the record floods of 2022/2023 along the Fitzroy River. We return to Broome for you to relax and enjoy the stunning Cable Beach and Indian Ocean, a fabulous way to reflect on your grand adventure.
