We were surprised at how comfortable the swags were, appreciated the fact that we didn’t have to unpack and put up tents at each site.
Judy & Steve Lukacs
The tents, sleeping swags and locations to camp were great. I had the best night sleeps!
Jen, Joe & Jack Previtera
The campsites were always clean, well maintained and located in picturesque surrounds. Being in the outback is the best! The tents are clean and spacious and even the swags are cosy. The sleeping bags give the 5 Star touch with their delightful silky linings.
Jenny McKenzie-Murray
Our tented accommodation left nothing wanting and our bags, swags, sleeping bags and water bottles kept us comfortable and warm.
Denis & Shirley Ranger
Great trip. The fixed tents, swags and sleeping bags were clean, warm and comfortable.
Jos Benner
To be honest I was a bit concerned how I would go not being a camper or very fit. But once I started I was happily surprised that I was able to do all the walks and not miss out on seeing anything.
Rebecca Lingam
The camping experience was great. Having the tents already set up makes life very easy and the swags with sheets make for a fairly comfortable night. We enjoyed sitting round the campfire and chatting and playing games many evenings.
Meryl & Glenn Jackson
The camping experience was great fun and campfires at night added to the experience.
Steve & Connie Calderwood
We were sooo excited to embark on this “trip of a lifetime“ which Rob booked over 12 months ago, especially as our “all inclusive” Adventure Wild Kimberley Tour included the infamous Gibb River Road. Finally the day arrived for us to set off in an “all terrain” air-conditioned vehicle, together with our 2 drivers / tour guides (Liz & Phil) and 11 fellow travellers (from New Zealand, Netherlands, Sth Aus, & WA).
Liz was extremely informative about the history and Phil shared loads of information and insights about the geology of every place we visited. They both also had extensive knowledge of the ever-changing flora and fauna, which they freely shared. This helped us to truly understand the vast, colourful Kimberley area and prompted us to find out more on the odd occasion that we had internet coverage. Their kindness, unwavering compatibility and teamwork was exemplary.
For some unknown & weird reason, I misinterpreted what I read in the tour brochure and very quickly discovered that “large spacious tents” does not mean we were “glamping” – we were camping complete with swag & mattress, pillow, sheet, sleeping bag, a variety of showers (including a bush shower) & toilets (sometimes the bush and/or “drop” variety), no power and the temperature was mid-30’s during the day and high-20’s at night. It reminded us of when we used to go camping in Gove (NT) 38 years ago. However camping was vastly different when we were in our 30’s than now that we are in our 70’s. Also, it was quite a physically challenging trip, with medium to high grade hikes (clambering over & around boulders) & rolling up our swags, which meant that we were all tired & ready for bed between 8.30 – 9pm and awake really early to be ready to go again by 6.30 – 7am every day, which is so outside “the norm” for us but we adapted extremely quickly. Having said all that we thoroughly and wholeheartedly embraced the experience and we both had the most memorable, fun-filled and totally enjoyable trip ever.
We savoured the delicious gourmet snacks, scrumptious, filling lunches and dinners (& desserts) and we enjoyed so much variety at breakfast time. I enjoyed playing dice & card games with Nicole, Kylie & Geoffrey. We were a cohesive and cooperative group and all “pitched in” to set up / clean up before & after meals and to unpack and pack the vehicle morning and evening and help / look out for each other, as needed. Nothing was too much trouble for Liz & Phil, they went well & truly “above & beyond” the call of duty and both were 100% dedicated, extremely approachable and caring with each of us for the whole duration of our trip. Our snack/meal stops were always “just right” and in the shade. We loved being immersed in nature at it’s absolute best – so healing for the soul. We also learnt a lot about the resilience of the people who call the Kimberley their home, they are all so phenomenal, especially the hardworking staff in the remote roadhouses, National Parks and tour operators.
The pools, gorges & waterfalls were epic to swim in. We’ve wanted to visit El Questro Station for a very long time and loved our 3 night stay. Rob & I enjoyed a 15-min. informative helicopter flight over the expansive El Questro Station. We had fun on our Ord River cruise complete with scrumptious afternoon tea. Our whole group enjoyed a champagne (& fresh fruit platter) Chamberlain River sunset cruise. The highlight was us feeding the Archer Fish their special pellets, so hilarious for all of us who got “zapped” by the fish shooting water at us.
The “icing on the cake” was Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles) for our 2 night stay. Rob & I enjoyed a 42min. helicopter flight over the “beehive” domes & National Park – a thrilling “bucket list” adventure – we’d highly recommend.
Liz & Phil kindly organised bubbles & nibbles (complete with a stunning sunset on the banks of the Durack River) for our 52nd wedding anniversary, which was memorable. Cecilia felt special sharing her birthday with Liz, while on this tour, complete with delicious birthday cake. Phil & Liz took us up a spectacular lookout (in Wyndham) on Mt. Bastion (325m) to the 5 rivers lookout, overlooking the King, Pentecost, Durack, Forrest & Ord Rivers entering the Cambridge Gulf. Next we visited the historic & fascinating Wyndham Museum. We finished off with lunch directly outside the museum – which was awesome. We arrived back in Broome safely thanks to the skilful driving of both Liz & Phil.
We will have no hesitation recommending this EPIC tour to all and sundry.
The adventure safari of the Kimberly was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. With its ruggedness and natural beauty it’s a place I’ll never forget. Our tour guides, Liz and Phil, were fantastic. They have a great sense of humour and I found their wealth of knowledge on the history and geography of the Kimberley to be very informative.
Thank you Simone and Karl for always being available to answer my queries. I’ve highly recommended your tour to family and friends.
Hi Simone
I would just like to say thank you so much for such an enjoyable trip, the memories of which will be indelibly printed on my mind for years to come! The success and enjoyment of the tour was undoubtedly down to Liz and Phil, our amazing tour guides. From the moment we met them, their enthusiasm and cheerful disposition remained throughout the tour.
Their professionalism and dedication to customer service were outstanding – nothing was too much trouble for them, and their ability to work with such a diverse range of people, keeping everyone happy, must be congratulated!
Their knowledge of the area, their organisational skills, their culinary sklls, their energy levels, their empathy and their amazing sense of humour throughout are only to be admired.
Of course, this is not to detract from the tour itself, which although covered a lot of mileage, was comfortable in the air conditioned vehicle and the added dimenision of having charging stations in seats was so beneficial for those of us who rely on our mobile phones for photography.
The availability of snacks, water and hydralite throughout the journeys was great, as were the loo stops, morning tea and lunches. The camping experience was not onerous at all, with swags being far more comfortable than anticipated!
As for the Kimberley itself, wow! I was blown away by the magical scenery and the fabulous gorge walks, rewarded by the swimming holes to fall into! The variety of locations included in the programme is well-balanced, and I liked the fact that the more hardy/stronger walkers got the chance to do some extra kms in some of the gorges.
The inclusion of the optional heli-flights over the Bungle Bungles was definitely a bonus, and I would recommend anyone doing your tours to take up the option!
Thanks again for a wonderful trip! I already have friends chomping at the bit since seeing my photos on FB, so don’t be surprised if a few more kiwis come heading your way.
Regards
I feel extremely lucky to have experienced the Kimberley with Adventure Wild and our guides extraordinaire in all regards, Gools and Thommo. Thank you Simone for your exceptional organisation and guidance to ensure we had the best camping safari in such a magnificent landscape. The itinerary, our transport, the comforts of our camps (amazing food, spacious tents and sleep inducing swags and sleeping bags – I was pleased I paid a little more for a stretcher), the sense of comradie and unexpected surprises like the best scones in the Kimberley, with fresh cream and jam of course, all made for the most amazing trip. The endless vistas of geological wonders, the walks through/to gorges and swims at and under waterfalls and a soak in the warm thermal pools of Zebedee Springs made for so many memorable moments. Those spectacular boab trees and the ever changing vegetation were another highlight.
Thank you Simone for making it so easy to do optional tours to allow us the opportunity to make the most of our trip. The Mitchell Falls, the helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles, the Horizontal Falls, the Chamberlain Gorge Cruise and the Lake Argyle cruise were all once in a lifetime experiences that fitted seamlessly into our journey.
Thank you again Simone. Adventure Wild is ‘Simply the Best’! I have certainly been recommending your company as the way to see the Kimberley.
Warm regards
Thank you Adventure Wild for a wonderful trip to a stunning part of the country. From our very first query to Simone she was so organised and professional and happy to answer any questions we had. The tour information was very detailed and it was so helpful to have the daily list that Liz provided letting us know what gear we needed to take for that days adventure.
Our guides Phil and Liz were absolutely brilliant, so organised and full of positive energy. They looked after us all with such grace, heart and good humour. Nothing was too much trouble and their passion for and knowledge of the Kimberley made the trip so much more meaningful. The bus was really comfortable and the driving exemplary.
The meals that were conjured out of that trailer were just delicious, and the cake for Kevin’s birthday was a lovely touch.
Thank you all so much for an amazing experience.
To Simone and Karl at Adventure Wild Kimberley Tours.
On behalf of Bruce Powell and myself we thank you for the opportunity to discover the Kimberleys. Our 12 day tour was unbelievable. Our guides Gools and Thommo without a doubt were the best. There expertise and knowledge, there commentaries and humour were second to none. The food they served each day was of first class menu’s from all over the world and very delicious. Our fellow travellers from different countries are now our new friends, everybody got on great together. The scenery, the landscape, our excursions were fantastic. We would like to thank everyone for making our adventure a memorable one. Wishing everyone all the best.
Kind regards
Hi Simone and Karl,
We had a fantastic time on our tour. Such amazing scenery, wonderful walks and swims.
Phil and Liz are excellent tour guides. They took good care of us and made our holiday very special. With the very hot weather on our tour, they made sure we started any ‘hot’ walks early to finish before it got too hot. The hydralites were excellent and much appreciated.
We will be recommending your tour to any of our friends who are interested in seeing this wonderful area.
Kind regards,
Simone and Karl,
I am writing to thank you for my wonderful Kimberley trip and to praise the excellent service provided by Gools and Thommo. The tour was all that I had hoped for and the expert knowledge provided by the tour leaders made the experience so much more worthwhile. The emphasis on hygiene and excellent food is well worth noting with the tour free of the usual tummy wobbles and other nasties.
Regards
The 12 day Adventure Wild loop around the Kimberley region was a brilliant anecdote for our busy lives with far too many responsibilities! Thommo and Gools treated us as if we were their own family, tending to various dietary requirements, safety, hygiene and physical needs with great expertise and a smile. Alongside all of that, they were excellent tour guides who reflect a deep passion for the amazingly beautiful Kimberley and the people of the region. We loved the information, and stories shared by our guides on the drives. Although we were a group with varying physical capabilities we were treated as individuals which meant that some of the group could push on or hang back on some of the adventurous rambles. We now look back and reflect on a wonderful 12 days as a precious memory.
Fantastic experience right through! From the in initial enquiries, through follow up questions to booking and the tour itself. Well planned, perfect, well-rehearsed formula that accommodates all ability levels and needs with options to extend walks and or adventures or moderate difficulty as required.
I am sure all your guides are fantastic, but Liz and Phil were exemplary, professional yet able to add a personal touch to the experience for every individual on the tour according to their needs. Like going away with close friends.
The food, the camping sights and the comfortable swags and tents all exceeded our expectations. The only way to truly experience the Kimberley on the ground, with so many options to extend with Helicopter, boating and seaplane adventures.
Simone and Karl – you run a great show – which only leaves your clients with fantastic memories visiting a unique part of Australia in the best way possible. Thoroughly recommended!
