We were surprised at how comfortable the swags were, appreciated the fact that we didn’t have to unpack and put up tents at each site.
Judy & Steve Lukacs
The tents, sleeping swags and locations to camp were great. I had the best night sleeps!
Jen, Joe & Jack Previtera
The campsites were always clean, well maintained and located in picturesque surrounds. Being in the outback is the best! The tents are clean and spacious and even the swags are cosy. The sleeping bags give the 5 Star touch with their delightful silky linings.
Jenny McKenzie-Murray
Our tented accommodation left nothing wanting and our bags, swags, sleeping bags and water bottles kept us comfortable and warm.
Denis & Shirley Ranger
Great trip. The fixed tents, swags and sleeping bags were clean, warm and comfortable.
Jos Benner
To be honest I was a bit concerned how I would go not being a camper or very fit. But once I started I was happily surprised that I was able to do all the walks and not miss out on seeing anything.
Rebecca Lingam
The camping experience was great. Having the tents already set up makes life very easy and the swags with sheets make for a fairly comfortable night. We enjoyed sitting round the campfire and chatting and playing games many evenings.
Meryl & Glenn Jackson
The camping experience was great fun and campfires at night added to the experience.
Steve & Connie Calderwood
Morning Simone,
l would just like to thank you for all the extra effort that you needed to put in to arrange my COVID test in Hall’s Creek. l guess you’d say it’s part of the job but l can’t even begin to imagine not only how overwhelming, but also incredibly daunting it would have been to handle it alone.
I would also want you to know how fabulous Gools was, ushering us through the whole process with never a hint of either frustration or annoyance. She is absolutely an A1 asset for your business .
Many thanks
| We are a couple in their 60’s who do not camp or 4 wheel drive and we knew that this would most likely be the only opportunity to see many of the beautiful sites of the Kimberley. My brother who is 10 years younger had urged us to do this trip as he has been lucky enough to, both see the area and, to know Karl and Simone. We are so grateful that he did so.
We had the best time. Our guides Mark and Carmel are like mountain goats and worked like navvies to make sure that we had the best time. They are legends. We had a great group of people to travel with of similar ages and interests, although obviously of varying fitness levels. We have exchanged contact details so hopefully we will be able to stay in touch. I have dodgy knees and found some of the walks challenging but was so pleased to be able to do many of them. Carmel would say I don’t think you can do this OR let’s give it a go. Sometimes that may mean that she would have to return to base with me and then hike back (such a lovely girl). She also produced the most amazing food – ably assisted by Mark. Sometimes on the camp fire at night (Marks job) but always appearing almost magically with the minimum of fuss. Sooo much food. The tents and swags were really comfortable – so much so that we are buying a swag for ourselves so we can camp with our sons and grandchildren. The tents when we did have to put them up were easy to do and everyone helped everyone else. Particularly useful when we had our early starts (5am on many occasions). The weather was perfect and we saw the Kimberley at its best after a wonderful wet season. The old saying “You are on tour NOT on holiday” holds true but I recommend this trip and this company to everyone. In fact I have two sets of relatives who are interested in booking. We had an wonderful time. |
After living in the NT and having a camper trailer and gear, we had always planned to see the Kimberley independently. I have been to the main towns and have done some work on a remote community in the area, however have not been off-track or to the main scenic attractions. We have been wanting to get there for a long time. Now, living in the ACT, with big distances and lengthy travel times involved, and having a good recommendation for Adventure Wild, we booked in. Given the uncertainties of travel, I had not built up hopes or real expectations. We have made new friends on travel before but not been part of a small group for nearly 2 weeks, so I was a little anxious about this.
The trip was fantastic, for many reasons. We were guided to see the natural treasures of the Kimberley by Mark and Carmel, guides who were knowledgeable, capable, enthusiastic, fun and relaxed. They shared their knowledge of places, and significant history of the places that we visited. They were reactive and responsive to changes and challenges, but stayed calm. They were directive when needed, consultative at other times. The group came together really well with most of the people being early 60s, at similar stages of life and with many common values and interests. We saw places at the best times of day (managing the early starts) with few others there and before the heat of the day. I enjoyed not having to think too much about when we were going where; the planning was done and the agenda set. Our need to change the route, possibly meant that we had the easier part of the trip first, but having remote parts at the end and no coverage, was a total Kimberley immersion before facing the real world again.
I particularly appreciated –
- Chairs with backs
- The fires
- Happy hours
- All the swims
- Breakfast options
- Healthy fresh lunches
- Diversity of evening meals
- The opportunity to sleep out in swags again
- The drink canteens
- Visiting and learning about a station
- The scones at Ellenbrae
I loved seeing the rock artworks, this was one of the highlights for me.
The walks were more difficult than I expected due to the rocks. I think that this needs to be more strongly advised on. It would be great if there was a bigger luggage rack on the bus to put backpacks
The early rises were worth it, the sunrises and sunsets were beautiful as were all the sites we visited. Their diversity was amazing too!
The length of time of the trip was just about right. We saw and learnt a lot learnt and were part of a fun group who enjoyed sharing our experiences. It was a real adventure!
Thanks to Carmel and Mark and to you and Karl and your staff for the organising and great systems of Adventure Wid.
Kind regards
Dear Adventure Wild,
My heartfelt thanks to Simone, Karl, Mark and Carmel for the outstanding care and consideration while on tour with Adventure Wild. Big thanks to Carmel and Mark for the amazing places we were able to visit and experience, without the maddening crowds. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my adventure and looking back through my photographs can’t believe it went so quickly. There were times when I thought I might not be able to make the next gorge or walk, but with their encouragement I achieved all of them.
Loved the food Carmel and Mark prepared, every meal was delicious, especially when we able to dine in such beautiful settings. The organisation, effort and detail into each hour of our day was appreciated. I was sorry not to be able to camp at Home Valley due to its closure, but Mt Barnett was great especially the scones at Ellenbrae. I never thought I would swim in billabongs or rock pools and was rapt to be able to do so.
I spent the last night in a dome tent under the stars with satellites and amazing shooting stars whizzing overhead. Barking and Boo Book owls were aplenty among lots of other wonderful wild life. Was a fabulous trip, great fellow travellers and company, Adventure Wild experienced guides, fully catered with the most amazing food. Some challenging walks, amazing waterfalls, rock pools, gorges, wildlife, indigenous and natural history. Met some amazing people who live and work in the Kimberley.
Highly recommend Adventure Wild.
Kind regards
Hi Simone
Just a quick email to let you know how much we enjoyed the adventure in the Kimberley and we can’t praise Mark and Carmel enough. They are such an experienced team and so very competent and friendly. Felt like we were leaving our family behind when we left the tour. Can’t tell you how thankful we are for their guidance and patience.
You have a great team there and will certainly recommend you and Adventure Wild. Your commitment to your business and customers is outstanding.
Thanks
Hi Simone,
Again many thanks for your assistance over the past couple of days.
We will be telling all our friends that are looking to take trips to the Kimberley, when things settle, about your amazing service and tours available. Hopefully we can get some more business for you.
You will see us when the world is not so crazy that’s for sure and perhaps and coffee and cake we owe you.
Cheers and best wishes
Dear Simone,
I am finally sitting down with some time to write down a testimonial for Adventure Wild.
As you know I am a single mother with 2 children aged 6 & 10 and I was on the July Tour with Phillip and Liz as our Guides. I cannot express how happy I was with the tour. I traveled with my two children and a close friend of the family, who is 19 years old from Holland. We had a fabulous time and I think I can honestly say that it was the best holiday I have ever had with my children.
It was well planned, Liz and Philip were exemplary tour guides with an incredible knowledge of regional history, both Indigenous and colonial as well as vast knowledge about the local flora, fauna, birds and geological history. In fact there were very few questions from any of the participants on tour that could not be answered by Philip or Liz.
The food was healthy and very tasty, the kids loved it and so did all of the adults. We were treated with well prepared meals and a great variety every day and night.
I could never have done this trip without being on an organized tour – it is the first of this type tour group travel that I have ever done and we all loved it.
My little boy became sick halfway through the journey and Phillip and Liz gave us incredible attention to ensure his well-being and that all our needs were met.
The tents and swags were comfortable and we had well planned forewarning of what facilities were available at each site for showering, washing, swimming etc.
It truly was a fabulous experience and I have recommended your tour to a number of my colleagues as I felt it was exceptionally family friendly with Philip and Liz . The cost was very reasonable given travel, accommodation, guides, food, as well as over extended hospitality on the part of our guides which was afforded to each and every individual on the journey.
A spectacular part of the world and a wonderful journey. Looking forward to an expansion of Adventure Wild into the Pilbara or Kakadu so that we can go again with your tour group to another fascinating part of remote Australia.
Hi Simone & Karl
We would like to thank you for organising such an amazing tour. Having never been to the Kimberley before, we’d only seen it in pictures and on the TV. Having now visited and toured through the Kimberley, we realise that you just cannot appreciate the beauty of the area without actually travelling through it. Absolutely stunning and better than we had ever imagined. Your organisation for the tour was fantastic, so courteous and helpful – we were lucky that we only had a small tour group and we all got on really well. The camping experience was great fun and campfires at night added to the experience. We even had a snake in the toilet on the last night in Fitzroy Crossing (ably dealt with by Phil) which added to the excitement. I’ve already spoken to many friends about our experience and all have asked for details about Adventure Wild.
And finally, is there a better couple of tour guides than Phil and Liz. I can’t praise them highly enough for helping to make it a very special tour. Such a lovely couple who couldn’t do enough for you. They were so patient and thoughtful and incredible meals served on the tour. Nothing seemed to faze them and they were so organised. They worked endless from the time they got up (I didn’t even know that 5am existed?) to the time we all went to bed. Never met such a nice, considerate and caring couple. If the world was full of people like Phil and Liz, the world would be a lot better place.
Anyway, please pass our thanks onto all involved for helping us have such an amazing journey.
Just completed the 12 day Kimberley Adventure with Carmel and Mark. The experience they provided was outstanding in so many ways. Their willingness to help was a true credit to the organisation they work for, nothing was ever too much trouble, they helped us through difficult gorges, so we could experience the grandeur and beauty that is the Kimberley gorges.
Their knowledge of the plants and animals was amazing and often we would stop along the way, just so the group could get that special photograph of something we will most likely never see again. The team work and organisation around camp was again outstanding, they made it fun for everyone and accommodated each persons differences and needs with a smile.
I couldn’t recommend them highly enough even though I know this was their last trip. Thanks Adventure Wild and a special thanks to Carmel and Mark for an experience of a lifetime.
What a fantastic trip, we were so well looked after.
The food was great and the scenery amazing. There were a great bunch of travelling companions with us from all walks of life.
Our tour guides, Carmel and Mark, are very special people that made the entire trip such a pleasure. Constant laughter and an experience exceeding our expectations.
