Testimonial for Adventure Wild

Tony Burville

Year of Tour: 2023

Dear Simone & Karl

Thanks to Adventure Wild I have just completed the holiday of a lifetime. Despite yours being a small family company your organisation I believe would put many large tour corporates to shame. Your very prompt replies to my questions and requests for help (often at out of normal business hours) made me feel that I was the only guest you had to look after. However I knew that at the the time you are looking after scores of other clients all with the same friendly efficiency.

This has been my first group tour. Up until this point my self-guided trips to remote areas of Australia like Birdsville, Lawn Hill, Flinders Ranges, Kakadu etc. had been on my own in a 4WD towing a camper trailer. I recognised however that the Kimberley would be very different and challenging driving by myself. I thought that it was much more sensible to travel in company because of the road conditions and the distance from assistance should I require it.

Our very competent and knowledgable guides, Kylie and Dean made sure that I was able to visit all of my “bucket list” areas of the Kimberley in complete safety without any compromise on the adventure aspect. They provided many unique experiences including but not limited to having sundowners sitting on stools in a river.

By day two I and my fellow travellers had been turned by our guides into an efficient happy team that wanted to pack up our camp as quickly as possible in the morning. This ensured, after a wonderful breakfast, that we were able to get on the road early so as to not miss out on any of the amazing sights, iconic scenary, challenging walks as well as refreshing swims along the way to our next camp.

In my opinion Kylie and Dean are the gold standard for tour guides. Every day they went the extra mile to ensure that we were all looked after and served up meals in the outback that wouldn’t be out of place in a top city restaurant. Fresh, tasty, variety and plentiful sometimes over an open fire. They were healthy and filling at the same time and moreover there was always seconds if you could manage it. They both worked tirelessly early till late at night with good humour at all times to make our tour fun, informative and interesting.

A highlight was the extra day at El Questro which is a wonderful destination. The free afternoon we were given there allowed us time to get our washing done and then to relax with a drink at the bar.

Very quickly our group dispensed with our first day’s shyness (even me Ha Ha). We then went on to enjoy each other’s company immensley and went out of our way to help in every way including assisting with the camp chores. There were many stories shared during the day on the road, then lots of entertainment and laughter around the camp fire every evening.

Adventure Wild’s 12 day Kimberley tour is one with the lot and it’s all down to the people involved. Simone & Karl in the command centre, our indefatible guides Kylie and Deano along with my fellow travellers all of whom were interesting, lovely and fun to be with.

I had already recommended the tour to two parties that I know prior to me joining 2206. One couple had finished their tour with Tommo and Gools just before I started mine. They have subsequently told me that they had had had a fabulous time. My other friends are planning to book with Adventure Wild for 2023. I will continue to let other friends of mine know that the only company to go to the Kimberley with is Adventure Wild.

I look forward to receiving the drop box so we can all share some of the images of the stunning places in the Kimberley that Adventure Wild introduced us to.

Warm regards
