Testimonial for Adventure Wild

Lois & Michael Booth

Year of Tour: 2014

On behalf of Michael and myself, I would like to provide feedback in relation to our Kimberley experience. Co-ordination, prior to the trip was without fault, with the information provided greatly appreciated and most useful. The trip far exceeded our expectations in every way, and is a testament to our wonderful “Tour Guides”, Thommo and Gools. Michael and I feel privileged to have been assigned these 1st Class Guides and hope we have a chance to catch up with them again in the future. By the end of the tour, we felt like part of their family. They were genuinely interested in the lives of all on the tour, and appropriately shared their travel experiences with us all. Members of the tour group were most compatible, and we hope they will visit us in Tasmania or we will catch up with them when we visit the “big island”.

Thommo and Gools were extremely well organised, and by the end of the trip, I think they had us all organised too. Our travelling companions, who had never “camped” before, soon adapted to the “great outdoors” and with a bit of guidance and support, enjoyed the tour as much as those of us who are seasoned campers. Their passion, knowledge and understanding of the Kimberley region was amazing. We learned so much about the area, the original land owners, and the farming communities from them both. A highlight was a visit by one of the “Elders”. Sitting around the campfire at night was magic for me. The camp-fire is why I’m so enthusiastic about camping.

Meal preparation via the camp kitchen never ceased to amaze us all. Barramundi poached in White Wine was one of the delectable meals we enjoyed. Quality, quantity and variety could not be faulted. Just shows what can be achieved with adequate equipment, careful planning and organisational skills. Whilst facilities at campsites varied, this all added to the outdoor experience. Having tents already erected on three occasions was most welcome, especially at the end of the long days travelling and trekking. As “Adventures Wild” tours are “wild adventures at their best”, making it too comfortable may detract from the intended outback experience.

The poor truck – not sure how it survives the rough terrain at times. Thommo and Gools take good care of your equipment and do everything possible to ensure we are as comfortable as possible. The water canteens and sleeping bags will be passed on to our grandchildren who also love the outdoor experiences, hiking and camping etc. We coped well with the pace of the tour and were pleasantly surprised with our capacity to comfortably complete all the walks. The scenery along the way and the final destinations made it all worthwhile. In retrospect, we believe 11 nights was long enough, and I’m sure we saw “the best” of the amazing Kimberley. We will most certainly pass on your tour brochures to our friends and will suggest they choose “Thommo and Gools” if they decide to book a tour with you.

Our photos reflect our amazing experiences, meeting other travellers, and being fortunate enough to meet and get to know Thommo and Gools. Memories to treasure for-ever.
