Testimonial for Adventure Wild

Janet Morris

Year of Tour: 2014

I can’t believe that you are thanking us for travelling with Adventure Wild. It was one of the best experiences of my life. The organisation was amazing and Thommo and Gools were outstanding leaders. They were always around when we were clambering through gorges, swimming etc so we always felt safe. Gools’ cuisine was out of this world; it was as if a five star restaurant appeared each evening out of the dust. They had the knack of organising the whole operation, including packing swags, without ordering us around. Everyone was happy to chip in and help wherever needed. Their knowledge and love of the Kimberley was overwhelming.

Thanks again for all the work you put into making your company work so well.

P.S. I am attaching a “thing”. I’m not sure if you’d call it a testimonial.

Trip with Adventure Wild – 27th June 2014

From the first minute of this trip I knew I was going to have a great time. I had felt slightly apprehensive for a few weeks and even months leading up to the trip as I didn’t know if my fitness and the fact that I was an independent traveller would mean that I would not feel comfortable with the group. I had met Thommo and Gools at the expo in Sydney and so knew I would get on well with them. They have the ability to make everyone feel they are a part of the group. When they picked me up in Broome, there were already two other passengers on the “truck” and they were amazing people.

Even our first day was full of memorable events, such as walking through Tunnel Creek, and learning to deal with our tents and swags. The next morning we had an hour or so drinking in the atmosphere of Windjana Gorge, and by this time we really felt that we were in another world, the “Kimberley” world. It would take me many pages to recount the highlights of our trip, the scenery, the walks, the flights, cruises, wildlife, aboriginal art etc, but I would like to mention my fellow passengers. Our group bonded quickly and we all seemed to have something in common; everyone was committed to enjoying the adventure of the Kimberley. I think this had something to do with the advertising on the internet – Adventure Wild seems to attract a certain type of person.

Our drivers/guides/cooks, Thommo and Gools are outstanding leaders. They were fully capable of facing any situation, e.g. flat tyres, but they also have the knack of bringing out the best in people. I was the only person who got lost on the trip, but they didn’t make a fuss; they just came back to look for me. The price of the trip was slightly significant in my choice – it was about a third of what I would have paid to travel with other companies – but more important for me were the testimonials of past passengers. They all talked about the fantastic time they had had, travelling, walking, swimming and sitting around the camp-fire at night.I can’t think of anything negative to say about the trip. Even though I happened to get the biggest swag, “Durack” which could have caused me grief, this meant that I had a special rendez-vous with Jeffrey, a fellow passenger, every morning at 5.15, for a swag-rolling bonding session.

In conclusion, I wish to thank the staff of “Adventure Wild” for the amazing organisation, and Thommo and Gools for leading this memorable experience. They thought of everything, even including pegs and washing powder!
