Testimonial for Adventure Wild

Jenny & Steve Chapman

Year of Tour: 2024

Hi Simone,

Pre trip organising: Simone was so helpful to us and I hear from others in the group too, to ensure we were on the right tour for us and to accomodate our particular needs. Heather was particularly grateful for the way you got her on a Mitchell Falls Tour when there weren’t enough takers from our group.

Special needs
The gluten free options I needed kept coming and I felt very well looked after in this regard. Liz was so attentive, it felt like she was my PA. I also had to use a travel CPAP machine and was always allocated the tent nearest the power and hooked up even before I asked.

Fitness
Steve was the oldest member of the group at 72 years of age, but there were 3 other 71 year old males and most in their 60’s. We were proud of what we achieved but also listened to our bodies so that we could last the whole tour. We didnt do the Manning Falls hike or Emma gorge hike but had wonderful alternatives to enjoy which we appreciated. Not having camped for 6 years we needed a little help setting up and pulling down the tent on the 2 nights we had to erect. No problem with that and no judgement.

Facilites
The tents were great, and toilets and showers varied but manageable. Best ones at El Questro and the last night. The campfire was not used as much as I’d envisaged, as most people wanted to get to bed soon after dinner, due to being up with the birds.

Food
The quality, variety and freshness of food was great. My favourite meal was the fillet steak evening meal. As good as a 5 star restaurant. Liz and Phil have all of this down to a fine art, particularly the road side morning tea and lunch stops.

Itinerary
It was pretty full on, but also well balanced with chance for a bit of a slow down once we got to Kununurra. As others have commented, it was hard for us choosing between the Ord River cruise and the Barramundi fishing. Thanks for suggesting the Broome fishing charter which as you know was very successful. My absolute highlights were seeing a Croc take a bird at Perry’s Lagoon.
Dancing with a Brolga at Kangaroo Haven and the no-door helicopter ride over the Bungle Bungles! A good tip was to borrow a neck chain for my phone from Susan. Might be something to add to the packing list as it was great to have hands free while walking and still having phone handy.

Pitching in
There was no shortage of help, especially on this tour. Wilbert summed it up when he said it was a good group evidenced by people fighting over who would do the washing up!

Camaraderie
You could feel the group bonding together over the days and the last night was very special as we shared songs, poems and stories around the fire. I’m sure some of us will be keeping in touch. We started a What’s App group early on to share photos.

Once again, thank you so much for an excellent tour. We are definitely recommending Adventure Wild to friends and family.

Kind regards
