Farewell to our families this fortnight
Farewell to our comforts and pet
Hello to old country and camping
In the landscape we’ll never forget.

We’re off with Adventure Wild camping
With our swags all rolled tightly and true
To traverse the Kimberleys overland
And take in the culture and view.

Well, there’s Thommo and he’s our commander
There’s Gools she’s his commandant too
There’s the AAPT fellow travelers
Don’t know what we poor campers go through.

Oh, the termites and boabs are everywhere
The red dust and spinafex too
In the wet the whole lot washes down the creek
God knows what those poor drovers went through.

Oh, had I the wings of a Kingfisher
I’d go the whole trip through anew
And pity the folk on The Gibb below
As their bones shake and cars break in two.
